Kiehl's

Has anyone here used Kiehl's products?  A year ago I would only use something like Gillete shaving cream that I could pick up from the local drug store. Then over time I started to get more interested in other kinds of products, soap, lotions, etc.  Then my beloved Heather tells me about Kiehl's and we make a trip to the Kiehl's store in san Francisco.

So now my shaving routine consists of three different steps.

  • prewash with a Kiehl's product which is a Foaming Non-Detergent Washable Cleanser.

  • Rinse
  • Lather with Kiehl's Ultimate Brushless Shave Cream - Blue Eagle. When I do this you barely see it. It's not a foam and you only need a little.
  •
  • Shave. and rinse
  • Use Kiehl's Ultimate Men's After Shave Balm & Moisturizer

Overall I have MUCH less (if any) skin irritation anymore. I'm not sure if this is the best for my face but it certaintly working.  It's just htese products are not cheap.  The cream is $18 a bottle and the pre wash is $11.  I can't remember what the balm costs but overall you're spending a lot. But the products really last you a month or so , so it's not all that bad I guess. I would recommend thier products to any men who get irritated skin. They're been around for quite a while now and you get thier products online or at thier stores.

Here's thier site:

When Anne was working in SF her boss and some of her friends used to frequent Kiehl's. She received some samples and tried them out. Not bad, if you're Madonna and can shell out the $$ for it, but I'll admit they seem to be great products. For my shave routine I'm down to some basic steps:
1) wash face with bar soap (I'm a Dove man, baby)
2) exfoliate with "scrubby glove" (one of those body wash gloves that's woven of a nylon-like material, and is slightly abrasive)
3) keep face wet with warm water, then shave
4) pat dry and apply moisturizer (my choice is one of Neutrogena's oil-free facial moisturizers)... gotta stay soft for the ladies!

Anne used to think I was crazy for shaving with nothing but warm water but I've found it keeps the irritation to a minimum and, surprisingly, I've had fewer "bumps", which in my case are ingrown hairs resurfacing below the skin, since I started this regimen. Of course, now that it's winter I'm keeping the "8 o'clock shadow" look going so I don't have to shave at all. Wind chill's a bitch.
